Book Review: "Anna Dressed in Blood" by Kendare Blake

If you are looking for something different than the typical girl meets vampire (or werewolf, immortal, faery etc.) story and aren't afraid of a little blood and gore, check out "Anna Dressed in Blood" by Kendare Blake.

This story concerns Cas Lowood, a seventeen-year-old a ghost hunter who inherited his ability to kill the dead from his father.  Cas and his mother are constantly on the move, until he starts school in Thunder Bay, Ontario to follow up on a lead about a murderous ghost nicknamed "Anna Dressed in Blood".  Anna is like no other ghost he has encountered, and even with the assistance of some new-found friends, killing her proves more difficult than he imagined.

The fact that the story is told from a male perspective is refreshing, as is the fact that the romance didn't follow the typical love triange so often found in paranormal romances.  The book contains a perfect balance of horror, romance, action and humor.

I give this book four out of five bloody dresses.

*Spoiler alert* Click on "Read More" if you've already read the book.

Did you find the romance between Cas and Anna convincing? Do you agree with Cass's opinion that Carmel and Thomas are "on a collision course"? Are you planning to read the sequel, Girl of Nightmares, coming out in August 2012?  Please share your thoughts.
