Manga Picks: "Arisa" by Natsumi Ando

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Twin sisters, Tsubasa and Arisa, write letters back and forth after being separated from each other upon their parents' divorce.  Based on her letters, Arisa seems to lead the perfect life.  She has good grades, is popular at school and has a cool boyfriend, unlike the not-so-popular Tsubasa who is nicknamed "The Demon Princess" by her schoolmates.

So when Arisa tries to kill herself, Tsubasa doesn't understand why.  Disguised as Arisa, Tsubasa tries to uncover the truth, but as soon she is caught in the same web of dark secrets that her sister was caught up in.

Fans of "Higurashi When They Cry" by Ryukishi07 and Karin Suzuragiwill love this manga, which has the perfect blend of mystery and horror.

However, I would not recommend it for younger fans (the book is rated 13+) who are looking for something similar to Natsumi Ando's lighter manga, "Kitchen Princess" and "Zodiac P.I." .

Overall I give this manga four dark secrets out of five.
