This popular Japanese series concerns a young merchant, Kraft Lawrence, who one night on his travels, discovers a strange girl with a wolf's ears and tail sleeping in his cart. She turns out to be Holo the Wisewolf, a harvest goddess whose is a wolf in her true form.
Feeling forsaken by the village whose wheat she promised to tend to, Holo longs to return to her homeland in the north. Against his better judgement, Lawrence agrees to let her travel with him, and in return Holo uses her cunning to help him get closer to his dream of having enough money of opening his own shop one day.
I have not read any of the novels yet, but I've read the first volume of the "Spice and Wolf" manga adaptation and loved the chemistry between Lawrence and Holo.
